Precision Friction Drive German Equatorial Mount TwinStar FG80 is designed to carry up to 80 kg for an affordable price, with sub-arcsecond level tracking precision included. Yes, you read right, 80 kg! This is more than enough for up to a 40-cm catadioptric, a big 20-cm refractor, or a system with many smaller optics system on the same mount. With a 80 kg payload, we think, we covered all your ambitions in astronomy or many of them.

TwinStar FG80 mount is the ideal solution for serious amateurs astronomers, universities, and serious science projects and research.

The mount is constructed for outdoor use in all weather conditions. The mount is generally built to survive many years outdoors, all main elements in the mount are made from stainless steel. All aluminum parts are hard-coat anodized and have a nice and professional touch.

We know, that cable management can be a nightmare in serious astronomy. For that reason, we designed an EQ mount head with all internal cable routing up to the telescope. Our unique DC 12V and USB 3.0 hub is integrated into the Losmandy/Vixen adapter.

DC/USB hub is essential for cleaning up the mess. This hub enables you to power all kinds of devices, up to 8 (imaging cameras, filter wheels, autofocusers, ASIAIR, heat strips/heaters, etc.) with a single power cable running up to the telescope, and also all necessary USB data communication with a control computer (imaging and guide cameras, filter wheels, autofocusers, etc.).

How many cables then do I need to bring into the mount head? Only three! On the bottom part of the equatorial head, we have three important sockets. The first socket is for general 12V power up 10A, the second socket is USB-B 3.0 for data transfer, telescope/control computer, and the third socket is USB-B 2.0 for communication with mount Twinstar FG80. The fourth socket is for a basic remote control keypad. It allows you to manage to mount Twinstar FG80 autonomously without a computer, smartphone, or tablet.

But this is not all! TwinStar FG80 equatorial head comes with integrated electronics. The mount works with any astronomical programs that support the ASCOM platform. For example, with the planetarium Stellarium, Cartes de Ciel, StarCalc, and others. Among astrophotography and auto-guiding programs, mounts support MaximDL, Guidemaster, PHD2, and others. Mount also supports working with the INDI astronomical platform and ZWO ASIAIR Pro.
